Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the newest addition of our Hot Yoga Naperville website. We will be sharing informative articles, blogs and videos to help us stay connected to our amazing community. I had the chance to interview Alex Rose and his fiancée Samantha a while back about why they started coming to HYN. I met them during one of the Power Vinyasa classes I took with my husband and have to say, they are an incredible couple. Even with their crazy busy schedules I see them every week sweating it out in downward dog. In just a few short weeks they have both noticed changes in flexibility, strength and well-being. Below is a transcript of the interview, please enjoy!

Interview with Alex Rose
Question: What got you started into yoga?
Alex: So my fiancé Sam has really been into yoga in the past and I thought it would be a really good idea for me to start to get more mobility into my discuss throwing. I do a lot of weight training, a lot of heavy throwing and a lot of stuff that is hard on your body. So becoming more flexible is huge for not being injured. It’s been four weeks, I believe, I have been coming roughly two times a week and I actually have already hit a new PR in almost all my weights.
Samantha: I love yoga it is awesome, it helps you with everything. And then I introduced him and he really got into it, and definitely he’s definitely improving.
Alex: It’s nice that you can see your progress, literally seeing your self in the mirror.
Samantha: It gets a little easier every single time and you feel even better when you get through savasanah.
Alex: See I still don’t’ know what that is.
Samantha: It’s at the end.
Alex: It’s difficult because during the day is when I normally do all of my lifting and throwing and everything so by the time I get back from work and she is back from work we don’t have time or you know I am tired, so, this is kind of a good reason for us to both be here together at the same time.
Samantha: It is nice for bonding. I love coming here, it is a very relaxing environment and I get excited to come in here and just start my vinyasa flow.
Alex: Sam used to be a high jumper and Central Michigan University, that is how we both met. I was the thrower and she was the jumper for our track team, the Central Michigan University. So she sprints up and then she plants off one leg and jumps. I am a graduate assistance coach at Aurora University so I am in charge of the throwers there. So, I am getting my masters in business administration on top of coaching the team. So, basically what that means is that I have class twice and a week and on top of that I have probably 15 or so throwers that I am coaching during the day. It is going really well, it is a great environment for me to train as an athlete for the world championships this next summer and the Olympics in Tokyo 2020. So, I alongside coach my athletes, I actually train with them the whole time. They kind of have a coach in me, that I don’t just tell them what to do, I kind of try to show them what to do, which I like to think helps. So, we have had a lot of success, since I took over as a throws coach, so hopefully it is a really long run.
I think we all have certain stressors that we sort of shove down during the middle of the day and it is awesome that we have a place where none of that stuff matters and you can just relax and just work on your self. And it’s a really judgment free zone, you know when I first came here I couldn’t do really anything, I didn’t’ know any of the terms, or anything like that. But, you know I have only been here 5 weeks, but already am seeing improvement and all of the Yoga instructors have been extremely beneficial.
